Today, I was walking with my girlfriend of a year and a half on the beach. Everything was fine until she saw a plane with a banner behind it saying "Cassie, will you marry me?" She said yes. I didn't order a plane. FML

OP's life could very well be ******. It's all well and good to say that a year and a half is long enough to get married, but we don't know any details. What if the OP is only 16 or 17? What if the OP had higher education he planned to finish before settling down? What if the OP and his girlfriend aren't financially ready for marriage? If OP was ready for a proposal he probably would have done it himself, but it doesn't sound like he's very ready.
