Today, I was working at my job as a cashier, checking out an elderly woman's groceries. She was very nice, and we chatted for a couple minutes. Once she had paid, she leaned close to me and said, very politely, "I'm so so sorry that I mistook you for a girl at first, young man." I AM a girl. FML

Today, I was stopped by a customer who told me that I looked like a nice woman. I thanked him for the compliment and pointed out that I was a man. With an obviously male name on my name tag. And visible facial hair. FML

Today, I was at work handling the cash register. It wasn't working correctly, so I apologized to the woman I was waiting on for the delay and explained, "The cash register's being a little retarded today." Then I noticed her clearly "special" adult son standing behind her. FML

Today, at my work, I was ringing though a kid's purchase. I try to be friendly with the kids and when he handed me his cash I said "Thank you, sir!" in a playful manner. He then turns to his mom and says "Mom, why does everyone think I am a boy?". FML

She's an elderly lady. They get confused sometimes. Don't take it personally OP. If you don't get mistaken for a boy often, than you don't have anything to worry about.

I can totally relate my friends always confess to me that they thought i was a boy in elementary school it still happens to me like a guy in pathmark a while ago asked if i pick up a lot of chicks with my hair doe so i just went along with it cuz i thought it would be awkward to say that i was a girl.

She probably has cataracts, so if you have a deep voice (or hell, if you have a normal girl voice and are just petite) she could have mistaken you for a prepubescent boy. Meh, there are worse things.

OP, I had the same shit while I was wearing a cap, and I saved an old guy from drowning. Turns out he was drunk on his religious holiday that stated him not to be, so a kind of karma situation. I just laughed at the situation. To guys joking about me looking feminen, 50 relationships and still doing better then you probably so dont even bother since I doubt ill even give this a second read. Sucks bad but I wouldnt worry. Theres a good-hearted guy out there for everyone, and even if you look half boy-ish im sure theres a guy who will appreciate and respect you for the way you are :). The drunk sight, and most old peoples ive met made my conclusion of #57 absolute win, and enjoy the rest of your life :)
