Today, I went Christmas shopping for my cat. I still haven't bought presents for my family, yet my cat already has several small gifts under the tree and an outfit to wear around the house. I really need a new hobby. FML

This is hilarious. That's how my family is with the dogs we have. Cats aren't humans though. Go buy something for your family members already, that should be your new hobby. Crazy cat lady. Lol.

Thanks captain obvious, I know that. I was just relating op and her cat to how my family is with our dogs, they just treat them like humans when we know they're not. Sheesh. Can't believe I have to explain this. Good lord.

I don't think buying your cat gifts is a hobby, but I bought my cats stuff before my family. Cats don't care so you can get them anything. People complain if you get them something they don't like. *shrug*

They do care, they just don't show it like a human. When you buy a cat a laser or a mouse or any toy, it provides entertainment to a day they may not otherwise do much else... Like any animal, they need stimulation and exercise. I spend most of my day away from home and playing is the way I bond with my babies. Voldemort, my oldest, he went from biting, and scratching for attention... With playing he gets the bad energy out and he's cuddly and loveable. He gets new toys and bags of treats at Christmas and his birthday... It's something to show that I appreciate him and Bellatrix for being in my life. They take care of me emotionally like I take care of them physically.

Of course you have to bond with your pet and play with them. What I mean is that I find stupid to buy them a toy for Christmas, this is a human event. Animals have no idea of what it means. I don't think they'd care that you get them a toy at Christmas or their birthday or anytime of the year, as long as you get them one.

I didn't know that we designate human times of the year and animal times of the year. My cat is my son. He was rescued and I adopted him after he was nearly weed whacked as a baby. I've been there his whole life. To me, he is a little, furry, quadrupedal human, who gets a new toy (a squeaky bird, his favourite) and a big bag of kitty cookies on Christmas like every other human in my life gets a gift.

Time to get back your common sense. Why on earth should OP give away his or her cat? I mean, sure, they went a bit overboard in buying presents for the cat and not for family and friends, but there's still twelve days til Christmas and lots of time to buy presents.
