Today, I went for an interview regarding a seasonal position I'd been offered at a grocery store. The manager showed up 45 minutes past the scheduled interview time, cheerfully greeted me, and took me back to his office, just to tell me that they don't hire seasonal help. Ever. FML

I feel like they should tell people in advance that they don't offer seasonal positions or at least have the courtesy to show up on time. Sorry OP better luck next time!

Should've left after waiting 45 minutes, that tells you it was a shit store to work for and the manager is already being a douche. Keep searching.

Oh wow so you waste 45 mins big deal, like you had anything better to be doing

waste of time much? sorry about that!

This exact same thing happened to me at walmart. And they had a huge sign outside that said "hiring seasonal help."

Why would you go there in the first place? Did you just ask for a seasonal employment and they gave you an appointment with the manager or did you simply ask for a job interview with him? Either way, FYL that sucks OP.

FYL OP, I know how hard it is to get a job. And on top of that, how tedious that you have to wait that long just for him to say that.

Edit: The OP might've misunderstood too, though. Or the manager might've changed his mind too.

I spent 16 years in the grocery business. We never hired "seasonal" help.

Lmao I never even heard of "seasonal" grocery store workers

well you need to get out more. It's very common for stores to do that. Particularly if there is a major event (like Christmas). Most people who work in these places are either part time or seasonal.

Retail normally does. I work grocery and have never seen anyone hired for seasonal help. We do hire more people during holidays, and yes, they are part time, but the majority of the people stay. We spend too much money on training just to let someone go in a couple months.

I also work in retail (grocery), and where I work everyone is part time or seasonal. Or that could just be a UK thing because here employer National Insurance Tax is worked out based off how many hours you are contracted, not how many hours you work. Hence why 0 hour contracts are controversial here.

They couldn't tell you that over the phone?? They had to set up an interview just for that? Maybe they were looking for full-time workers... But still, they should be more specific... Sorry op, good luck
