Today, I went hiking with my family. A local had told us about the trail, saying the two mile walk would lead us to a seventy-foot waterfall. After seven miles of trekking in the sweltering sun with no food, we finally found the waterfall. It was barely ten feet tall. FML

At least you got some exercise. And a ten foot waterfall is better than no waterfall at all

You're griping about going for a nice hike in the woods?

Hmm. Dominguez Canyon, Colorado. You didn't walk 8 miles, unless you got reeheeheeely lost. The waterfall is more aptly about 50 feet tall, give or take. And it is only about two miles. But for the modern generation who are destined to a rascal by age 25, it would feel like eight. I suspect you didn't even make it past the waterfall at the entry of the canyon, which is about 12 feet. Google dominguez canyon waterfall. Quite beautiful. There are many waterfalls in the canyon though. My now wife almost died not far from there when she went over a different waterfall in high water. Saved her ass and she later became my wife!

Wow, that sucks. Kind of sounds like the premise of horror movie where the redneck locals send you to the wrong place because they don't like outsiders, and they were hoping you'd get lost so his family could catch you and use you for whatever weird thing they wanted to use you for. Or maybe I watch too many horror movies.

This happened to me in Guatemala. We were biking on some MAJOR hills that were downplayed. We ended up very disappointed.

maybe the big one really was closer, and you took a wrong turn?

It's kinda stupid to go hiking without food... Just saying

Wait. 7 miles... 16km ish, right? You were exhausted after only 16km? That's only a 5 hour walk.
