I'm really sick of all these; YDI for snooping comments. You guys don't know her family life. In my house me and my mother swap clothes back in forth all the time, and because we're the same size sometimes our stuff gets mixed up. We do this without checking with the other any more, its become so common. If I went into her room to get a shirt, its not snooping. Finding a weird cell phone you've never seen before in the drawer, to be honest I'd open it too to try and find out who it belonged to. Checking the text messages is usually one of the quickest and easiest ways to find that out. This FML isn't about the fact that she snooped. Its about that she found out her mother was cheating with a guy they both work with. Its an awkward as hell situation. So please, quit assuming her life is like yours, maybe she was snooping, maybe she wasn't. We'll never know. Her mom is a cheat, and she doesn't know what to do. FHL. OP: Awful situation, you've got my sympathies. I think you ought to talk to your mother and her co-worker in private and from there figure out how/if you should move onto telling your father.
