Today, I went out for dinner with my parents where they asked me if I was still dating my boyfriend so I answered no. They quickly responded by saying, "Oh so you finally got rid of that douchebag? It's not like he was getting anywhere in life anyways." I answered no because he's my fiancé now. FML

Parents never seem to approve of anyone's significant other for some reason.

he's your fiance && your parents weren't even told about it ? you think , telling them when prompted , that he's not your boyfriend anymore was a good way of breaking the news ? YDI .

It's true though. No one asks for permission anymore. They should though! It's fun to see them squirm waiting for the fathers answer BWAHAHAHA!!! I wonder how that would work for my boyfriend? Considering I don't have a daddy... Hmmm

that must suck!!! well, parents don't need to approve for love. it's your own heart to whom you choose it belongs to.

Normally the first people you should tell are your parents..you set yourself up for that one broha

Someone's not getting wedding invitations...

Mate they were trying to console you because they thought you would be distraught over the "break up"
