Today, I went to college, where I'm studying for my dream job. Despite getting up at 5am to catch the earliest bus into town, I arrived ten minutes late. My professor knows my circumstances, but is still threatening to kick me off the course if I don't "arrive on time like everyone else." FML

I know it sucks, but if he makes an exception for you he'll have to make one for everyone else. Maybe you could carpool with a classmate?

in real life you are responsible for showing up on time to things. unless its a family/medical/weather emergency they shouldn't care what your excuse is and shouldn't make exceptions for you

Some people can't drive because of certain illnesses.

I'm sorry dude but you have to make your schedule around what works for you. If you signed up for a class that you can only get to ten minutes late, then you should have known better. It's not anyone's job to coddle you anymore. YDI.

You need to seriously consider moving closer to the college or utilising an alternative mode of transport.

you should get a rental apartment near your college !

All the people saying move closer/use alt transportation: For us poor people that's more often then not impossible. If OP is catching the bus at 5 AM I doubt it's simply because he doesn't feel like driving, taking a cab, etc., and if he doesn't have a car I'm guess he can't afford to move/rent at high near-campus prices

Why do you think he should give you any special treatment?? Grow up and move closer to the college.
