Isn't there a car service (is it smart car, not seeing what I'm thinking of on google) that lets you do short rentals of a car and try that. Alternatively, see if the course is offered online.
You're thinking of zipcar. It's a good idea, but it would be expensive every day and the locations are generally only in cities - it sounds like OP is commuting from the boondocks.
If you want something bad enough, you'll make it happen
Ask to stay with the professor.
It's possible the class isn't offered at a different time. I had to drop out of college last semester because I have chronic pain and sleep disorders that precluded my making a 4 day a week, 8 am class that my school did not offer at any other time (including online) and would not accept as a transfer credit. I'd change schools if I wasn't two credits from graduating and hadn't already sunk so much money into the place.
I understand OP's frustration, but sometimes it doesn't matter that you tried your best and you really want something. You still have to deal with the rules. If its a smaller class I can understand the professor's policy, since latecomers are disruptive. It sucks for you but that's just the way it is.
Your class could start at 5:30 for all we know..
Most professors will be understanding to a point. Though they will be okay with it the odd time, constantly running in late is going to lower your grade. You are gonna have to find away make it on time. I have to leave an hour ahead to get to class on time and most professors at my school will lock the door after 30 min and it'll count as absent unless you have a really good reason.
good for you op proud of you! But, its not the professor fault rules are rules if he lets u come 10 min late then everyones ganna come 10 min late

Rules are rules buddy
I know it sucks, but if he makes an exception for you he'll have to make one for everyone else. Maybe you could carpool with a classmate?
