welcome to the hard harsh truth of working...anywhere. remember op here's some good advice. 1. always have ppl send you email records of things they ask you to do if it's not part of your job (these emails are incredibly important it will be what backs you up in everything) 2. don't pull OT for work that isn't yours (again those emails are important for this as well) 3. if you let yourself be a pushover other ppl will always try to take advantage of you. 4. if you believe and know you deserve a raise and have backup proof (again email records) ask for it, keep asking, they will always try to discourage you but know what you're worth. even if you're fired from it you're still benefiting because it shows no mater how much work you do that company will never treat you the way you deserve to be. I can't stress number 1 enough, btw all this gets easier the more you practice. I'm in tech/entertainment field this happens to us all the time. this is what we do, it's something we have to do. good luck
This is were a lot of people get stuck because they are to Afraid to quit and look for another job. Best advice look for one and you will be blessed. Get some self worth and dont be afraid to speak up for what's right even if you do get fired or ridiculed
Welcome to the working world. You basically have three choices: #1 Suck it up #2 Find a new job #3 Start your own company I highly recommend #3, because you will never get rich working for the other guy.
its like that where i work too
You're job as an employee is to do what is told... You don't necessarily know what she's doing behind the scenes, or whether those phone calls are personal or business related. If you're that unhappy, find another job.
Now that you brought it to your managers attention, their advise to 'do what she says' might be that they can now observe/keep track of the behavior themselves in order to collect evidence for corrective action and/or separation. I've been in leadership for years and I use that technique so the person dumping on you can't argue that it's not true. That's when I pull up the evidence I collected first hand and they sit there shocked.
In God we trust; everyone else must put it in writing.
Wow eerily similar thing happened to me. I was told to acknowledge that I was stressed and maybe me acknowledging it would help me get over it. Meanwhile I'm taking on half the duties of my boss and she constantly complains that she can't possibly do her job but gets paid way more than me. People suck, OP.
Having been at both ends of the spectrum I can tell you that as you advance you typically have less duties, but more responsibilities. As a manager you are responsible for your employees and it is your job to delegate. Sometimes it may look bad if you are outside looking in, but that may not be the case. Then again some people are just tools.

May have to go to HR for this one cause your boss is useless. Or find another job so you're not working for tools
An FML that doesn't mention expired food, feces, or detailed injuries but still makes me sick to my stomach! Bravo, FML! Bravo!
