Today, I went to start my just bought '79 VW bus. I put my key in but stopped due to the strong gasoline smell. I went to check. Found puddle of gas. The previous owner figured duct taping a cracked tank was the same as fixing it. And didn't bother to share that tidbit with me. FML

Old cars are awesome! I've got a 72 bug and parts are easy to some by for vw's! They've got a lot of potential and are way cool! Don't be idiots by saying not to get a 30 yr old car just cause your ignorant!

Rule of thumb is too check the car. Its even more ydi because its and older car

Did you not do a thorough examination of said bus? That's your own fault.

While I agree that you should have checked it out before you bought it, I think you're awesome for driving a VW bus

Shoulda gotten it inspected by a mechanic.

Well it's a good thing gas tanks are pretty cheap and easy to install
