Today, I went to start my just bought '79 VW bus. I put my key in but stopped due to the strong gasoline smell. I went to check. Found puddle of gas. The previous owner figured duct taping a cracked tank was the same as fixing it. And didn't bother to share that tidbit with me. FML

YDI it completely for not properly checking out a car before buying it. Especially in your case since it was frmo 79.

Dude, you bought a FAT CHICK, what did you expect! YDI! The best thing you could have done was let it burn to the ground!

Agreed, YDI for buying a 30-year-old vehicle without having a mechanic check it out.

Should have gotten it inspected first! YTDI

if you didn't know enough about cars to look at it properly before you bought it, then you should have had a mechanic or somebody with half a brain to look at it. A 30 yr old car without an inspection? YTDI. never trust a seller. they can sell it 'as is' with no legal responsibilites and it's up to you to find out what's wrong with it.
