Today, I went to the doctor for the constant pain I have when eating savory or sour foods. It turns out I have a stone in my saliva gland, and no joke, the only thing I can do to fix it is eat savory or sour food to make me drool enough to force it out. FML

You could also suck on sour candy, or basically anything that makes your mouth water and activates the saliva glands under your tongue (sublingual glands). They could also try to massage the area and attempt to work it out. In this case the stone is likely small otherwise they would have opted to surgically remove it by making an incision or a sialendoscopy which is less invasive.

like they say... when life gives you lemons... suck it up.

Use an old little plastic ketchup or mustard bottle that they fill up and set on cafe diners.. fill it with warm water and squirt your tonsils pretty hard in the area !!! Works like a charm

It's not a tonsil stone. It's a saliva stone. Like a kidney stone. It's under the tongue.

Oh man this happened to me! My doctor jokingly "prescribed" me sour candy and the stone was out in no time.

My ex had this a couple times each year. The saliva builds up under the chin/side of the neck and causes great pain, yes. When the pressure built up, she would pop the end of the tiny hole of the saliva gland like a zit. Or at least run her thumbnail across it a bunch of times until it would pop out.
