Today, I went to the doctor to find out why I've been feeling so sick the past several weeks. Turns out, I'm severely allergic to the cat of my girlfriend of two years. I told her "It's me or the cat." She chose the cat. FML

That was a bit selfish of you. There are such things as allergy medicine. To some people, their pets are like their children. And for you to make such an ultimatum is an asshole move. Good job.

To be honest, i'd choose the cat as well.

Never, ever make someone choose between you and their pets... Not only will you get dumped (if they have a brain at all), but you'll show them just how much of an asshole you really are. :D

Why would you force someone you care about to give up something they love? At the risk of sounding cheesy, animals are partner energies to us. They help us in ways that humans can't - so much so that an unconditional bond can be created in a very short time. Like other posters have said, there are such things as anti-allergy medicines and in time you may get less allergic to the animal. I guess she saw your true character after you gave the ultimatum and broke up with you as a result.

hahahaha thata girl sorry I would so do the same thing!

why couldnt you just take medicine for the allergies? you totally deserve that. i would never choose a guy over my cats.

i guess i understand that. i have a dog, and i would do anything for him. =/

I'd definitely do the same thing. My boyfriend's allergic to cats and he knew going into the relationship how much I LOVE cats, and he accepts it. If you really loved your girlfriend, you wouldn't have made her choose. YDI

Boyfriend of two years? Or cat of probably 5+ years? HMMMM

doesn't that mean she chose to get rid of the cat? that's a good thing! not a bad one!
