As a "breastfeeding Nazi" I would have said to breastfeed instead of use formula in the past. I breastfed my children past a year old. Until I had my daughter. She was born with tons of allergies, dairy protein, soy, rice intolerance, and many other foods. I even went as far as doing the elimination diet but my milk started drying up because I wasn't able to eat anything but turkey and sweet potatoes. After 3 months of this and a lot of depression because of feeling like a total failure I ended up having to go ahead and give her the prescription formula because even with me doing the diet she was still getting sick all the time and having a lot of problems. Within a month of her being on the formula her eczema got a little better, she stopped pooping blood, and was not longer colicky all the time. Now I have learned not to judge when someone says they are giving their baby formula.
Obviously you've gained some perspective, so this isn't necessarily aimed at you, but this is what really bugs me about people who have a barrow to push, whether it be religious, political, philosophical or whatever. They walk around being jerks to people, then years later, gain a bit of perspective, realise they were wrong and just shrug it off, whereas they should be made to go around to everyone they've unloaded on and personally apologise. Just imagine if you were at your lowest point, with a sick, colicky baby that had you at the end of your tether, all the while that you're feeling like a failure and a bad mother because you can't control the situation, then some high-handed person comes up to you and rips into you for bottle-feeding your child. They could have their epiphany the next day, but you'd have to carry that around with you forever. Remember, with great douche-baggery, comes great responsibility.
the worst reaction I got was from the staff in the labor wards. I tried to breastfeed but my son was premature and couldn't get enough suction, that coupled with the fact I have inverted nipples meant he was getting only a tiny bit of milk. The staff were quite judgmental when i asked for bottles. I even had someone say "so you've given up have you?" My son lost over 10% of his birth weight in the first fortnight because of their reluctance to try bottles.
that wudda looked cool shud call the discovery channel
have to agree it sounds like some serious cleaning needs to be done. I have a son and if ants were invading my home I would have someone watch him to avoid him being scared or ants going into his bed or even biting him. yikes.
For some people (like me) their milk never comes in and they HAVE to bottle feed.
Hah the blacks and reds

FOR SPARTA!
All you need now is a colony of acid-shooting termites to kill off all the ants except for one of coarse and you should name him Z.
