Despite the fact #6 beat me to it (kinda)... Is your boss Michael Scott?
How could you not understand "pot... meet kettle" I've heard that expression hundreds of times.
maybe that person never heard it, like myself, this is the first time I heard it and how are you suppose to guess that meaning just from that story, it doesn't make much sense, not that it's been explained i get it. but yeah. that's stupid I hate boss's like that I have one who won't take any idea if it's not her own and if it is someone elses she just gives a bunch of reasons as to why it won't work and says it's kinda useless.
maybe you understand because you have "heard it hundreds of times" but you have to be aware that maybe other people have never even heard this expression, like me, i get what it means know due to all the comments but still, other people probably dont know what the hell everyone is talking about,
OP, there will always be a boss like that. you just have to fake it in front of them.

You don't work for a Pennsylvanian branch of a mid-sized paper supply company based in New York City by an chance, do you?
"the pot calling the kettle black" or as the OP put it "pot meet kettle" is basically calling someone a hypocrite. the boss is trying to bring the company down but then gets mad at his/her employees for not doing a good job, when in fact it is the boss' fault nothing is done right.
