Today, I worked my first day at a nursery. At nap time I spent about an hour trying to get all the kids to calm down and go to sleep. I'd finally got the last one to drop off, when my phone rang. Loudly. FML

The children never really nap anyway. They're just laying there with their eyes shut plotting ways to get their revenge against stupid grown-ups that make them do dumb craft with macaroni, and how to get back at that kid who eats all the good play-dough. ... besides, a small child that really asleep wouldn't wake up to a phone ringing, smoke alarms don't wake them and I doubt your phone is louder than a smoke alarm

ydi for being stupid. number one: unless you put roses and potting soil down for naps, I'm guessing you work at a nursery school, not a nursery. second: your phone should never be turned on when you are looking after little children. your focus should always be on the children.

well I guess the OP assumed nobody would be stupid enough to think she was talking about a plant nursery while discussing children and naps. Way to be ridiculously technical :P Plus nobody said OP wasn't giving full attention to the kids. Someone called her, not the other way around. Had she not had a phone and there was an accident then there would be a problem wouldn't there. Think before you leave dumb comments please....

If it was your cell phone then YDI. If the nursery is being run from your home and it was your home phone then fyl. But even then it's a little bit of YDI as well because you should have thought to turn it down/off. If it was at a school an the school phone rang (as most modern classrooms are equipped with one) then FYL because that is out of your control.

I can imagine how much this would suck... If its baby's they would be going off their heads for ages.. I had fun putting kids down for their naps today, and ended up sitting by one kid for about an hour telling him to "shut your eyes", "come on its sleep time"... "Lie down right now!"... Damn, and when i came back from lunch, the little bugger was sitting up and looked over, saw me.. And smiled like a smartass :l
