the mac or pc debate here is moot. did you read the instructions? I can't imagine they didnt warn you to switch off all automatic updates or make sure all updates are done before you take the test. PCs also warn you before any updates take place and you have the option to postpone. sounds like you weren't really paying attention. Having said that you probably arent the only one so i'm sure if you explained and requested a re-take, they ought to let you.
