Today, it hit me that I'm incredibly pathetic, when at the age of 21, I tucked my stuffed animals into bed with me, facing in different directions so they could keep watch for monsters while I slept. FML

Pathetic? Hardly! Those monsters under the bed are only slightly scarier than the ones in the closet. It's a damned good thing you have such good protection.

Nope. I'm 19 and I have more than 13 plushies and teddies surrounding me. So, I think your fine. Besides o.o darkness and monsters are scarier to some than others, don't worry...I don't think you're pathetic at all. In fact, it's kind of endearing

Perhaps you're on to something. I don't like sleeping alone, but I have to. And I happen to have a dozen plushies and teddies on my bed too. Especially big ones (because they're closer to human size maybe?). Good point nonetheless

My husband worked graveyard for 5yrs, and the only reason I slept through the night was because I got a body pillow that I placed beside me. It tricked my mind into thinking I was not alone. Op is onto something :)

Nothing wrong with it, forget what negative people have to say.. I'm 24 with 2 kids and I still run to my bed after I turn the light out and I sleep with a blanket covering my feet so whatevers under my bed can't get me...no need to be ashamed, that's what makes you YOU!!!
