Today, it was my 17th birthday. I didn't want my family to spend money on a cake, so my dad made this delicious apple ring. At least, it was great until my mouth began to itch and my throat closed. I have been allergic to nuts since birth, and my dad put walnuts in my birthday cake. FML

Sounds like something my dad would do... dads are even worse than boyfriends about remembering that stuff. Trouble is you can't dump your dad.

Well...considering it was her FATHER who should've been living in the same house with her for the last 17 YEARS...yeah, what kind of an idiot forgets something like that. It's like forgetting you have skin cancer.

Aw man, good thing you're ok now. Did he actually not remember the allergy or was he just trying really hard to make a nice cake for you and didn't realize that the walnuts might harm you? I can totally see my dad trying to exactly follow the recipe and just forgetting about the allergy. FYL :(

I don't see how OP's dad could forget that. She's 17! (I'm assuming OP is a she, I'm on the FML app on my iPhone, you can't see any of that info.) A nut allergy is too serious for even a male to forget /: But if he did just forget,

man, how does someone really think that someone would deserve this?

You said it yourself; it was delicious. Let him slide this time around or have him make one without them afterward. I'm not saying it wasn't a serious mistake, but its not something to have a grudge against your dad for too long.

I think I like your comment the best :) . Yeah, of course I forgive him. Although with the EpiPen and the trip to the ER, it probably would have been cheaper to just buy the damn cake.

lmao maybe he wants to get rid of you! thats why he's being cheap

If I were you OP i would make sure daddy didn't take out any new life insurance policies on you recently. O.o

Considering he made the cake for you, he probably feels more bad about this than you do...

After 17 long years of resentment, Dad finally saw his chance.

I'm thinking that after 17 years of investing in the project, Dad finally decided that you were never going to pay off for him and just wanted to cut his losses. Don't take it personally, it was just a business decision. Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Maybe you're fat and your dad was sending a message....
