Are you sure they were making fun of you? There might be some slight cultural differences here...Sometimes, kids will just tease you and give you a hard time and joke around in an attempt to make you feel more at ease. Well, even if some were, I can guarantee you that there are definitely some students there that will want to be friends with you. Don't clam up because of one bad experience :).

French isn't that much spoken in Montreal. It's mostly English there

It's OK, it will get better. People make fun of my accent constantly, and I live in the United States, and I was born here. But I am Southern. Just laugh it off, and you will find good friends. A lot of people are just scared of difference.
