Oh no! You have a teacher with a sense of humor who just may keep you somewhat entertained while you're learning. Man that sucks.
Okay, to be fair, the joke is a little on the lame and nerdy side. But I don't see how that's a bad thing, especially in this type of situation. Even if his little joke came across in such a way that nobody was amused, at least he was trying, and the fact that he tried shows that he hasn't lost his passion for teaching. It is that type of teacher, the kind who makes an effort, that you will really learn from. In fact, it kind of reminds me of my high school physics teacher. What started with some slightly lame jokes ended up in a semester of interesting experiments and hands-on activities, and well-discussed open lectures in an atmosphere of respect. I may be making a huge assumption (okay, okay, I am), but I'll bet you can expect the same from your teacher.
