Today, Muse cancelled their upcoming show in Oslo. I bought my sold-out tickets on the black market for double the retail price, and have no way of getting my money back. FML

Today, after taking various trains to get to Marseille to see Bruce Springsteen in concert, whom I've been waiting about 30 years to see, I found out only a few hours before it was supposed to start that the gig had been cancelled due to The Boss having "vocal issues." I'd even spent 50€ on a t-shirt. I actually cried. FML

Today, I arrived at work to find an email from the manager whom I had bought concert tickets from the night before. He said he had actually sold those tickets to someone else. He still expects to be paid. FML

Today, the arts company I work for cancelled our 8 pm sold-out outdoor performance at 7:30 due to rain, and will have to reticket 550 patrons. I'm the only person in the office trained in ticketing. It stopped raining 10 minutes after we cancelled it. FML

Today, to be kind, I gave away my tickets for an electronic music event I could no longer attend to a Facebook stranger. Later, they told me they were refused at the door. Turns out the pdf I'd received from the ticketing system contained some placeholder values and invalid QR data. And this happened on April 1st. FML

Today, I was supposed to be going to Edinburgh to see my favourite band live. I was expecting to be picked up at 8 a.m. for the drive there, but I woke up to a text saying my friend bought tickets for the wrong city. The show he paid was for 2 days ago. FML

Today, it was the concert of my life. I had bought tickets the minute they went on sale, and I'd anxiously waited until the concert date. Thirty minutes before the show, my friend got so drunk that we weren't allowed in, and I was stuck babysitting her all night in the hotel, completely missing the show. FML

Today, I drove six hours with a friend to see one of her favorite bands in concert. We were turned away at the door because the online site didn't say we had to be 21 to enter. I drove six hours back with nothing to show for it but an empty gas tank and useless tickets. FML

Why all the judgement on buying from the black market? Concerts don't get cancelled that often, OP was just really unlucky. People who buy more than they need to resell are douchebags, of course, but the people who buy from them are just in an unhappy position. I was in the same situation once because I usually go to smaller concerts where the tickets rarely get sold out, and didn't know how fast they're gone on big concerts. That could be the case with OP as well. He has my sympathy anyway!

In my opinion, it's still OP's fault. Even not knowing how fast they'd sell out, if they wanted to go to the concert that badly they should have planned ahead, and they definitely deserve it for buying them for twice the price from the "black market."

I agree with you. OP clearly wanted to see Muse really badly and people are being pretty dickish about it. Okay I agree it's a bit excessive to pay double the retail but that's OP's choice. Clearly it was worth it to them. All this stuff about planning ahead... I never plan ahead for gigs. I buy the ticket, I go to the gig. Unless the tickets have sold out, in which case I usually just leave it, but if you can afford to get a ticket from another site that's almost invariably an option, so why the hell not?
