I did it at 17 and it worked out for the best. Good thing is shes 21 and she doesnt have to ask for her mothers permission to do anything, wish you guys the best.
21...
You should have slapped your girlfriend, then suddenly you aren't just some guy you get a label, woman abuser.
the correct response to that would be "LOOVE SHACK BABY, LOVE SHACK"
It's true. Watch any courtroom show, get married before you move in together.
I feel you OP, I'd love to move in with my boyfriend of 3 years in the next couple of years, but we'll have to wait until we can fully support ourselves, because we both have strict, religious parents (of different religions). They wouldn't be too happy if we got married either.
My parents have had a rule with my sister and I: as long as they were financially supporting us (college, grad school, etc) we could not move in with a boyfriend. If we DID move in with someone, we would be considered adults who were starting their lives together, and no longer have financial support. It has kept both my sister and I (mostly her) from some very poor decisions that would have ended much worse than they did.
Is your girlfriend's name Peggy Olson?

Wow. That's the thing about overly-protective moms. She needs to learn that she's grown up, and to let her make her own decisions. Hope everything works out for you guys!
I would have to ask, how long have you known her? I knew a girl who showed up to the door of my friend's house after a week of dating, with packed luggage and even her cat in arms....man that's awkward.
