Today, my apartment was robbed by my landlord. Her logic? "I own the building, and therefore everything in it." That TV cost more than my rent. FML

This is mine. we did call the cops. we have to prove its our tv so now we have to find the receipt from 2 years ago. her whole family is into illegal shit. her son got arrested recently for forging the mayors signature. we intend on moving as soon as we find an available apartment.

Also, its not a complex. she doesnt live in the building. she just lets herself in whenever she pleases. she also yells at us for having our windows open. the heater blows out cold air, the toilet handle broke, and its a 1 bedroom she charges $600 for because its furnished with ripped furniture and busted chairs. she also wants us to pay her an extra 200 dollars a month because of the "problems" there's been. i.e. the windows. so yeah, we're moving.

Don't let her raise the rent on you! If you've signed a lease (and I really hope you have) then that's illegal. She can't do anything to the rent until it's time to renew the lease. The only thing she could conceivably do is try to evict you, which a) she has no real cause for if you've been paying on time and aren't doing anything not expressly forbidden in the lease, and b) takes money, time, and is a general pain in the @ss. My advice is to call the local apartment association, explain what's going on, and see what you can do. If she's renting privately (not through a complex) then she probably isn't a member and they'll know the rules of what you can and can't do.

I feel you. I used to live in an apartment where the asshole of an assistant manager would often steal people's shit when they go on vacation. He stole our surround sound system, and this was in the 90's so that shit was EXPENSIVE. He eventually got caught on camera and got his ass fired. You should sue her.

Find another apartment complex, and sue her. Or, the less rational option, but good nonetheless: tell her she can own the bottom of your shoes and kick her in her greedy ass. :)
