Today, my boss called me into his office and bitched me out for a good half hour for my attitude to our customers. Apparently I always look pissed off and sound sarcastic. That's just my face at rest. FML

Today, I sat in my boss's office as he bitched me out for being "too sarcastic" to our customers. After nearly half an hour of him criticizing my "piss-poor attitude," he asked me what I was going to do to fix it. Without thinking, I said, "Your mom." Now I'm jobless again. FML

Today, my boss bitched me out for a customer complaint. The complaint was me not laughing at the customer's joke of me asking for his ID and him saying no. I'm sorry, I've been getting this joke a least twice a day since I started working here two years ago. FML

Today, my boss came around to my way of thinking. He called our customers a "bunch of assholes" and to kick them out if they gave me trouble. When a lady began yelling at me for "setting the damn prices too high" I told her to leave. My boss soon bitched me out for being unprofessional. FML

Today, my boss yelled at me, telling me that I can't answer the phone anymore. Not because I do a bad job, but because a co-worker whined about it being her job. People call her and complain about how rude she is and then ask to talk to me. FML

Today, my boss told me that my attitude to work is awesome and that he'd follow my example of coming in half-an-hour early every day from now on. I relish those 30 minutes as the only time I can get work done without him constantly interrupting me. So much for that. FML

yes, OP, that happens...unfortunately, we tend to be unaware about how our face looks atm, and ppl just ask if you're pissed or if something is wrong when you are feeling OK...it is pretty annoying.

I have the exact opposite reaction from people. My nursing instructor gave me a review that said "you are unusually cheerful and chatty, it seems nervous". Apparently there is no happy medium.

I can relate, OP. What's worse is when people come up to you and ask why you're angry or tell you to smile more. I mean, I was perfectly content until he or she came up and started complaining.

That happens to me all the time. It drives me crazy. I just tell them i'm always smiling...in the inside. It just doesn't naturally comes out in my normal expression.

I have the same problem. I spent 16 years in the grocery biz, and sometimes I'd get asked why I always looked mad, when I was in a good mood. I had no idea I was doing that.
