Today, my boss confided in me that when a gay person visits his house, he discreetly follows them around and cleans anything they touched and everywhere they sat with disinfectant wipes. I've worked for him for 7 years but he doesn't know I'm gay. FML

the business is family owned. the only way to get past a certain point in the hierarchy is to marry one of the daughters and none of them is my type :) besides, I'm fairly well placed and trusted, and the bonuses are large and come often enough.

I have nothing against gays but I must still say it is still a sin. Since when do morals change people? Christians don't hate gays. They just want to show gays the error of their ways. God loves everyone but He does not condone homosexuality.

Obviously he is wrong and it is demeaning to the non straight people he has over. However, if he honestly feels that way, it's not hurting anybody besides feelings and he said he was doing it discreetly so he's trying to keep from hurting feelings. While he is a terribly stupid person, that is the right way to deal with it. He's keeping from impacting on others lives and he's not trying to tell them how they should or shouldn't live. If he was maliciously cleaning after them, hoping it would cause them ill effects, that would be worse, but as it is he's just a moron who refuses to accept that non straight people are the same as straight people. And as long as he's not doing anything mean, people shouldn't try to force him to stop.

The fact that he feels the need to do it discreetly says that he knows that most likely it would be offensive if he was caught. He should be forced to stop regardless. He is ignorant and disgusting. His behavior is mean. it doesn't matter if he's trying to be or not. There is everything wrong with his behavior but nothing wrong with being gay.

It is bigot and terrible of him to feel that way, but it's still how he feels. I know I am completely accepting of all sexualities, before even realizing I am bisexual, but my parents aren't. To them gay is okay (still bad), but bisexual just means you can't keep it in your pants and are always going to cheat (which is SO not true), but I don't hate them or criticize them for it. It's just their belief and everyone is entitled to one. Even if it is horrible.

I try to be respectful of even those I disagree with (anti-gay folks) so long as they treat people with respect(I'm not going to kill a friendship over someone's religious beliefs). In this situation though that is just downright rude and I'd have a difficult time holding my tongue.
