Today, my boss decided that a mug and a public 'thank you' were a sufficient substitute for a Christmas bonus. FML

At least you got that. Bonuses aren't guaranteed, and some bosses don't recognize their employees' hard work.

I'm sorry OP he might be like Scrooge, damaged at a young age. :/ Anyways, Merry Christmas! :)

Oh wow, more then I'll ever get from my boss. If I dared asked for a bonus he'd laugh and send me some were where I'd be reminded how thankful I am to be posted where I am. This of course would mean OT and dealing with the holiday lines-the ugly ones.

And why the **** are you so entitled to a bonus? Maybe your work was less than satisfactory this year. This shit pisses me off more than anything. My brother complains every year that his group at work only gives him $50 for his Christmas gift. Get over yourself, OP.

Still better then a year subscription to the "Jelly of the Month Club"

At least you got that AND you have a job. Happy holidays...

That's a mug and a public thank you more than what I get!

I got a letter notifying me that I'm about to lose my job because the company is going out of business. That is my lovely Christmas surprise from the company this year. Honestly I don't care about bonuses right now, I'd just be happy to know I had a stable job and not wonder where my paychecks will come from. Getting a mug and a public thank-you would be beyond amazing right now if it meant I could keep my job... it's also more than I got last year because I got nothing at all. Many people don't get any bonus, so just be grateful you got anything at all, yeah maybe it's a bummer to not get some extra cash or whatever but it could be worse.

Yeah, I find it really hard to be sympathetic with you. Since my unit opened up, I have had 5 bosses in 2 years, none of them which even bothered to know my name, so be to thanked by your boss would would be a nice thing. How is that an FML? I just want for my new boss, number 6, to perhaps to learn my name.
