That doesn't surprise me at all. That's always what they do when you can't work the hours they want to give you. It's ****** up.
Sorry OP Maybe get a job that is more empathetic with your current schedule.
To me, the difference between YDI and FML is whether or not you told them you were planning to go to school when you were hired. If the answer is yes, as a boss I'd work with you if I hired you to come to a mutually agreeable and satisfying solution. If the answer is no, as a boss I'd probably sideline and replace you like is happening here. So. If you told them, FYL. If you didn't, YDI.
That was my thought, too. If she claimed to be available 7 days a week during the hiring process and then dropped the news that she needed 2 days a week free for classes after they hired her, I can see why her boss would be upset about it.
My boss just did this to me. Cut me down to just Sunday, when I went to tell him he could schedule me more days, he fired me.
Well at least you didn't get fired, I told my boss I could work my normal hours every day except Monday and Wednesday and there was a kid who wanted days since he started but instead my boss (who complained constantly about how understaffed we were) fired me :( he knew since he gave me the job in July that I'd start school in January. Sorry about that though op! I hope things get better. Getting an education is very important.
I know some states frown on retaliatory hour reductions. Maybe call your states labor board and fing out.
Was she doing to be nice or be a bitch?

That's really rude, at least you offered to work 5 days
Don't worry, OP! Now you have more time to stress over classes and the finals they bring! Who needs financial income when you've got stress keeping you going!
