As a manager, I'll explain. If you apply originally to work 5 days a week consistently, I give you priority. If you can only work for 2, the situation changes and you are no longer the stable fill. The next worker who can work the most consistently is. Say, I call someone and they can do 4 days but not 5. You get 1 day. Now let's say I call someone else who can work 5 days, I might give you 1 day a week to keep you on payroll and be nice or lay you off depending on store needs. Finding workers and scheduling is difficult and being fair is hard.
Too bad you read the fml all wrong. OP CAN work five days, it's just the two days for classes that are off limits.
The backwards logic is strong with your boss.
This probably happens a lot. If you can, try to find a campus job because they will always work with your schedule. If your college is in a college-centered town a lot of the local businesses, chain retail, and chain food will also be willing to work with your schedule.
Life in the good old US of A. You can't get an education without work but if you can't put work ahead of education you won't get a job. Saddening
Did you not notify your manager when applying that you would be taking classes, so they wouldn't have a false expectation of your availability? If not, then, you don't deserve it, but I can see where the manager is coming from.
If I were you I'd definitely quit and find another job. No one should have to work for an asshole like that.
Your boss is an asshole. If they're going to be that way because you can't work all the time to further your education, it's time to get a new job. Just start applying to other jobs, most bosses understand that you have to go to school. And who knows, maybe you'll end up being paid more ;)

That's really rude, at least you offered to work 5 days
Don't worry, OP! Now you have more time to stress over classes and the finals they bring! Who needs financial income when you've got stress keeping you going!
