Today, my boss heard a rumor that I was in a relationship with a fellow co-worker. He assured me that inside relationships weren't against any store policy, so I confirmed it. He then fired my boyfriend anyway. FML

Hey this is the Op.. So many great comments haha. I completely regret confirming it, it was like I walked into a trap. I'm going to talk to my head boss though because it's kind of ridiculous

That is why everyone should thoroughly read employee manuals for themselves. Never rely on someone else to tell you what policy is.

Not to sound too harsh, but I'm not gullible enough to fall for the "no really, no one will get in trouble, just tell me" speech.

Perhaps he confronted your bf about it and he lied about it unlike you and the reason he got fired is because he lied? That's the only reason I could find logical otherwise your boss had no reason, especially if he told you it'd be fine.

He fired the boyfriend cuz he's jealous.

yeah, and buy it from your boyfriend so he has some income again. that will definitely solve all your problems. basedgod seems to be a really clever guy ^-^

Atleast out of the two, you were the better worker? Since he kept you.

When your mom would say "just tell the truth and you won't get in trouble"

makes me wonder if he had already asked your boyfriend and he denied the relationship, therefore he got fired for lying?
