I feel your pain OP. I worked at a non-profit for 3 years. Within the first year my duties got almost tripled. Any time I asked about a raise (to go with the increased duties) I was told that they couldn't, "because we're a non-profit." My last year there they had a big gala to celebrate the 150th anniversary. They spent more on a large tent (for ONE NIGHT) than on my salary all year. That's when I started looking for other jobs.
I don't really get it... how much is one week of your salary? For how many people was the lunch catered? Does it happen often? I mean, it's a catered lunch worth I'd guess a few hundred dollars, it's not like he bought a new Mercedes on company money...
probably the most common 'reason' to fire someone. your ex boss is a liar and a coward.
It's all about what The Man feels is important.
