The OP's mom just wanted to be sure her daughter was practicing safe sex, because she cares about her daughter. One extreme would be a too-controlling mother freaking out at her daughter having sex (or even kissing) with anybody, the other extreme would be a mother who didn't care at all what her daughter was doing, and neither of those would be IMHO good parenting. The OP's mom is obviously cool with her daughter having sex, at least with that boyfriend, and is just concerned that her daughter is being responsible about it. I admit that ANYBODY coming into the room is going to be a mood-breaker, but if OP's bf was indeed wearing a condom, I'm sure she won't need to check again. This also means Mum is fine about the OP having sex while she's there!
