Seriously, why do strangers still ask this? I love babies too but if I was ever not absolutely sure I wouldn't dare ask and embarrass some girl. That piece aside, leave the guy if he doesn't respect you.

My advice would be to leave him, if he is ashamed of you then you should not be with him. It makes no sense logically, he seems like a real tool.
