Ouch, was he breaking up with you, OP, or was he trying to salvage a broken relationship? Because if it was the latter then, yes, painful, but he's trying. If it was just a break up then that's a definate FYL, because he didn't have to tell you about the lies, even if you demanded a reason (which I kinda hope you didn't because if you did then it's going more to ydi) he could have still lied.

I have to respectfully disagree. Humor at times like this can be a useful tool in getting back to a healthy state of mind. Even if it means at laughing at yourself for your own gullibility.
