if you were together only eight months before he went to jail you shouldn't have gave away your money to him. Eight months together is not long enough for that. Dating someone who is going to jail is bad news anyway. Sounds like he kind of used you.

Sorry but why the **** did you pay for HIS lawyer? It's his responsibility and most likely his fault that he's in jail. Not yours. You took a huge and stupid risk for someone that probably doesn't deserve it.
