Today, my boyfriend told me I'm beautiful. Before I could thank him, he continued, "Too bad it takes a shit-load of makeup." FML

Whoa! You don't have to put up with an arsehole like that. Next time look at his crotch. And squint.

When you got it, you got it. When you don't, you're you.

YDI for dating an arrogant prick. I'm sorry and am sure to get many downvotes, but if you knew he was an asshole before you became his girlfriend, what would make you think he would have changed?

And this is why I don't believe in makeup. People get used to seeing you wearing it that if one day you don't have time to put it on or simply forget, they freak out. It sets an unrealistic standard of beauty, not to mention it's stupid expensive. I could buy a new CD (and some DVDs) for the price of one tube of mascara. I'd rather have the CD, thanks. And that's saying a lot considering they're pretty much extinct thanks to iTunes...guess I'm saving a lot of money multiple ways! Seriously though, OP, you didn't deserve to have that said to you, and if he only thinks you're beautiful for wearing makeup (and only likes you for your looks), you should kick him to the curb. He's a shallow, arrogant pig.

My s/o has never seen me with anything more than mascara and eye shadow on, and even then only a little. you cant cake make up on your face everyday an then expect someone to prefer you without it, they're not even used to your natural face. He's with you anyways so he obviously like you no matter what you look like.

Wow, that was unnecessary. Sorry OP, but your boyfriend's a jerk.

Makeup is false advertising. Guys hate it. Stop using it. It's disgusting.

I've always been of the opinion that makeup is false advertising. You can't blame someone for being honest about the fact that you wear a mask all the time. You don't see guys doing much more than shaving and styling their hair. You don't have a leg to stand on here.

105, Why do you think it's acceptable to take something away from a face but not to add to it? The stark difference goes both ways. The same goes for something like deoderant. Its highest selling point is that it literally masks what you smell, but I doubt it offends you as much as makeup. It makes no sense. If a female wants to look prettier, if a male wants to look neater, if someone wants to smell nice -- well, why the hell not? Women aren't products for you to purchase and take home only to feel righteous indignation at their "falsely advertised" eyelash length or skin tone.
