Was he aware you were on your period? Maybe he was trying to wake you up with a nice surprise and discovered the tampon string... Or maybe he knew, and wanted to earn his red wings.

It is perfectly safe to sleep with a tampon in. Tampons need to be changed every eight hours, so it's only necessary to get up in the night if it's been more than eight hours. If you're getting up multiple times in the night to change your tampon, you're either a: paranoid and wasting tampons, b: sleeping way more than eight hours (in which case I think TSS might be the least of your concerns), or c: not using the proper absorbency. Sleeping with a tampon in is not unhygienic. If anything it reveals how hygienic a person is because they obviously care enough about keeping themselves and the bed clean by preventing stains from happening. If they were dirty, they wouldn't bother with tampons or pads. *Sigh* I wish people would educate themselves before opening their mouths and revealing how ignorant they really are. It's especially bothersome when women don't know anything about their own bodies.

8 hours is the absolute maximum amount of time you can leave a tampon in for, ideally you should be changing it every 4 hours or so. Waiting 8 hours to change your tampon is like waiting until your gas tank is almost empty before you fill it up again. Sure, it's not bad to do it occaisionally, but the more often you let it happen the more your risks increase.

okay, you "can" leave it in, but why would you want a bloody bit of cotton in your ****** all night? it just seems wrong.

1. Actually, EVERYTHING says the maximum is 6-8, not 4. There is absolutely nothing wrong with 8. 2. TSS is actually incredibly rare, especially since they changed the composition of them in the 80s. (It may even have just been one brand in particular. I don't remember.) They just have to list it because it is TECHNICALLY a possiblity. 3. How is it more gross to have a tampon in you while you sleep, so blood doesn't get anywhere, than to use a pad and wake up with blood all over you? That's gross, especially if you have any hair there, because then it would get all matted and disgusting. Ew. It's annoying to not be able to sleep for 8 hours, sure, but it's definitely better than the uncomfortable, messy, and gross alternative, and no, it won't hurt you. Plus, the OP could have just been taking a nap. Surely no one thinks having a tampon in for an hour while you nap will kill you?

131: Granted I'm a year late, but I'd rather sleep with a bloody cotton wad in my ****** that I can't even FEEL than a soaking, bloody sponge of a pad when I wake up. Just a thought. Which seems worse?

KittyBF to the rescue! To play with every string no matter where it is!

awkwarddd. Lol i'd be embarrassed if mine did that :o!
