Just because he happened to get a diamond ring does not mean she is entitled to be proposed to with said ring. And If she actually goes through with dumping him over something so petty, he definitely deserves better than her.

Just cause won doesn't mean you have to get anything. You're not entitled to anything he wins regardless of what it is.

It is common sense OP, if you want to get married, you will need the money for your future life together, not the ring. Be practical.

I did not read all (ok any) of the comments so keep this in mind before thumbing me down. But the way I see it is, there are several likely (could be others) explanations. 1 He isn't ready to get married. 2 He sold it to purchase a ring just for you (not one chosen by the prize committee) 3 He's broke and is responsible enough to pay off some bills before even considering proposing 4 He is a giant douche. 5 You are a flaming **** and he is only with you until he can afford to move out

He could have a financial situation you don't know about. He doesn't have an obligation to propose if he isn't ready. If you want that commitment and he doesn't want to then move on. Find someone who wants what you want.

Well a few options here options here. Either he doesn't feel ready to marry, which he may just need some talking to to figure that out, he has something else in mind and doesn't think that the ring suits you, he may just want to find the perfect one for you, or he already has a ring on reserve for you and doesn't want to ruin the surprise by winning this ring and giving this to you. It can be looked at from some different angles, so just try to talk to him and give him a break. :)
