A friend of mine had something similar happen with one of those animal toys that move around. I'm sorry about your bad luck OP, I hope the window was covered by insurance.
At least they cared enough if it was indeed a child
But then, smashing a window with a young child sitting in the car wouldn't end good. The child could get hit by the glass and they would probably become very scared. There's other ways to handle this situation.
The doll was in a car seat? That's weird. I can see how someone might have thought it was a baby, especially if your windows are tinted.
If the windows were tinted, they would not be able to see in. Unless they were purposely peering in.
Also, Cabbage Patch kids look absolutely nothing like real babies. Kind of hard to see how one could mistake it as such.
A lot of little kids like to leave dolls in car seats, strap then in with seatbelts, have them at the dinner table, etc. So it's really not the OP's fault that the doll was there in the first place. I can see how a person could glance at the car, see a doll and make the assumption that it's a child, especially comsidering the asshats that'd do that to an actual child, but a double-take and a closer look should have cleared that up. Especially considering that Cabbage Patch Kids have a very distinct look about them. Sorry some dumbass tried to be a hero, OP. this is a good lesson in being observant.
that was exactly what I was thinking about if your windows r tinted its hard to tell what's real and wat isn't yes cabbage patch kids look different from a real child but at least this person was trying to do the right thing!
I wonder what would have been the outcome had it been a furby strapped in the car seat...
"I was just trying to save your ratbunny thing. it was a doll. but I took your stereo as payment."
It toyed with someone's thoughts.
I've seen uglier children. maybe the 'hero' was the one with heatstroke, not the baby!
Well actually, you live in Canada, it can't be that hot or cold up there right now, so unless you live in the ghetto, what's the harm in leaving a kid out there for a few minutes? Not that I'm condoning being a horrible parent, but they obviously didn't look close enough to see if the kid was suffering or if the parent was coming back, so would it have really been justifiable if there had been a kid in there?
I live in Canada. Today the temperature was 33C. Two days ago it was 36C. in the winter it can get to -40C then add in the wind chill factor. So I guess the heat of over 30C we have had for the last couple weeks isn't THAT hot by your standards? Or our winters? Where do you get your information from? At least you don't think all Canadians live in igloos, I guess we can at least be thankful for that...
Are you serious? The temp doesn't automatically drop as soon as you cross the border? But, but, but...what about moose and flannel shirts and those furry flap hats and hockey everywhere? IT ALL CANNOT BE LIES!!
#30 what in the crap is wrong with you?! Look up how long it takes for a child to die after being left alone in the car, it only takes a few minutes I can't believe you said that.
I live in California, today it was 70 degrees. My car was 90 inside. Cars are made of metal and get to be up to 20 degrees hotter than the temp outside. That is why only a stupid person would leave their child in the car for "just a moment."
Please, Canadians, do not judge all the Americans by this stupid asshat. It is never ok the leave a child in a car. unless they deserve it (jk) or have the common sense and ability to leave if they become uncomfortable (probably like 15 and up).
Kids put their dolls in cars seats all the time , it's like their baby ;p but I mean , come on they didn't notice that it was a doll after standing so close to the car? There's a distinct difference between a cabbage Patch doll and a actual baby :/ especially since I'm assuming the car seat is a little big for a baby considering the fact that your daughter can strap the doll in by herself. Sorry you now have broken window op, that is very unfortunate :(
At least they cared and thought that they were doing the right thing, did they offer to pay for the damage tho?

The doll doesn't care if it's hot...
From a distance it might be easy to confuse a doll for a child. But once they got up close I'd think they could distinguish.
