Crap. Wrong FML. Please downvote as much as possible.
The bird wasn't dead? Come on cat...
I'm surprised that the cat didn't kill the bird before bringing it inside... Unless the cat just saw the perfect opportunity to let the bird attack something. In that case, it's a diabolically intelligent cat.
It was bringing it in alive so whoever it thought was its young could kill it. It's a common way that animals teach their young to hunt. They bring the animal to them alive, but where it can't get away, and let the young kill it instead to get used to it.
Try keeping the cat door closed at night. My cats are indoor cats, but I know that if I let them out they would go hog wild on the wildlife. Also there are nocturnal predators like coyotes that can attack cats(and dogs) left outside at night. Yes, even in the suburbs!
and your mom thought it was appropriate to yell at you ?!
Same thing happened when I brought home a bird at 4am, F the cat's life..
Bird was crazy scared. Poor thing.
I have grave news, your cat is very sick, the bird wasn't dead yet.
You have to train your cat??

I would be pissed too if I had been dragged into a house by a cat.
The cat gave your mom the bird.
