It sounds like your coworker thinks you smell specifically like smoke. Do you live in a house with someone who smokes, have a neighbor who smokes (and apartment walls that let the smell through), or do you buy your clothes at a thrift shop? Because even if you're not the one producing the smoke, once that smell gets in your stuff/environment, it's really hard to get it out.
