Today, my cousin taught me how to make dinner. My cousin is in first grade and I'm in college. FML

Wow, really? There's really no excuse for that. I mean, come on! They have apps/recipe books to help with some of that stuff. Sad how some people can have a degree but miss out on learning something like this.

I learned how to cook at 5.. YDI

I could make a grilled cheese at age 5... there are cook books out there that contain the recipe on how to make a peanut butter and jam sandwich. I just got my bachelors in culinary arts this past month for my second career. It's not hard to learn how too cook. Seems like you had your mother do all the cooking for you. This is where responsibility plays in. - - and how do you not know how to cook the basics for yourself in college? that's a sad story on its own.

Ah, well, being in college doesn't tend to require much cooking, at least not if you live in a dorm. They make you have a meal plan, after all, so there's no POINT in cooking, unless you really feel like using the shared hall (or building, depending on the school) kitchen, which does not have any pans or basic ingredients, so you literally have to buy everything to make one single dish (and have fun storing that $150 pan set in your teeny dorm room and finding a use for those other 10 eggs). I do agree that it's kind of sad not knowing how to cook. But being in college doesn't tend to necessitate it at all. Anyway, I personally am more appalled at the people that don't know how to do laundry. You literally can't function on your own without that (unless you have a maid, I guess?). You can survive not knowing how to cook (with a lot of TV dinners and take out, anyway).

skatejock where did you go to school? I wish we had more places around here but sadly the only culinary arts school is part of enliven college that requires students, even with families to live on campus for two years >:-( or we would have to move to a different state for AIP

I guess if you aren't a skilled chef you wouldn't cook from scratch in college or university. I did just basics in college. Laundry, yeah I'd have to agree, it is worse than not knowing how to cook. I went to Le Cordon Bleu. I intend on going back for my Baking and Pastry Arts Associates degree. Are you wanting to do the same career as a Culinary Chef? Sounds like it. It's a great career.

find a boyfriend who likes to cook. I'm not sure what other use they have, given how inexpensive vibrators are.
