Today, my dad met my boyfriend. It took less than 10 seconds for him to accuse my boyfriend of being a "queer" because his handshake was "too limp". FML

Tell your dad "Fortunately for me, he's other thing isn't too limp". I bet he won't think he's a queer anymore!! He might kill him tho...

I hope you prepared him before.

A firm handshake resembles confidence. But in no way does a limp handshake mean someone is a queer...

Right or wrong, Fathers tend to mark their territory Tell the BF to never show fear, fathers smell fear, and it brings on a feeding frenzy You can't fix stupid, and you can't always fix ignorance

XD dude making sure your guy has a firm handshake should be the first thing you make sure before you let him meet your dad. If you're a man or even a woman and you have a weak handshake then you might as well slap yourself

Same thing happened to me when my brother met one of my guy friends, it turns out he actually was gay

Lol, that is just pure awesome. My dad does the same thing with my sisters, but out of humor of course.

Your dad could just be establishing the pick order as the Alpha Male. Which the guy should respect depending on where they are. And your boyfriend might have given a flimsy hand as a sign that he submits to your dad Alpha role.

As rude and offensive as that was, I really can't say I blame your dad entirely, OP. A "limp fish" handshake is the worst, and can give the person whose hand your shaking a really bad impression of your self-confidence.

He was nervous...let's go with that...

When another man gives you the limp fish hand shake it is highly disrespectful and a insult
