Unless you're still in a relationship with this person, which seems unlikely since he only "looked familiar", I don't see how this is a problem. You can't become biologically related to this person by marriage, and if your father is happy, that's all that should matter. Sometimes life is awkward, you just suck it up and get on with things.

When I first read it, I thought the FML was that she now has to live in close quarters with someone she lost her virginity to and, judging by the distance (it took her a moment of thinking to recognize him), it was a rough break-up (or, at least, they aren't exactly the best of pals). Then, I realized that not everyone is still in high school. It seems she isn't still living with her father, as she just found out about/met this woman when he had been dating her for awhile and considering marrying her. If OP is not dependent dependent on her father, then I agree with you; I don't really see the FML here. She lost her virginity to someone who could possibly be her step-brother in future. It isn't incest, and she doesn't have to be close to this person if she doesn't want to. ???
