Today, my doctor informed me that the tests we've been doing the previous months show no sign of leukemia. I was just about to express my relief when he casually followed up with, "Never mind, there's still a lot of other blood-related diseases we need to look out for." FML

There were other ways your doctor could have said that, but keep looking up OP. I'm sure you'll be fine. And if not, take each day one day at a time. :)

Hopefully they will show nothing is wrong as well.

Depending on what could some up cancer is gladly out of the way... Prayers toward OP anyone else in?

If I were you, I'd get a second opinion from another doctor because this guy doesn't sound too professional saying that. Otherwise I pray nothing but good health for you

Who the hell would put you deserve it? I hope all your test come out well

Generally it goes with bad news followed by good news.

well no news is still good news and maybe they are minor issues that can get resolved since not so obvious that it shows up immediately when tested

Who the hell clicks YDI for having to get tested for leukemia ?!? Dicks... Thats who

Thankfully, the doctor used pretty ambiguous language (even if it doesn't sound very concerting). He likely wants to have you screened for other things before giving you a clean bill of health. You don't have leukemia, at least. He could have worded himself a bit better, though.

Please find another doctor who you respect and feel more comfortable with to get another opinion. When my child was 7, her ankle really hurt her so I took her to an orthopedist. After the x-ray showed no broken bones, the doctor then said she must have rhumatoid arthritis and pressured me to put her on strong medicine, even when initial tests for RA were negative. He even implied I was a bad parent when I wouldn't listen to him. I paid to see another orthopedist that was outside our insurance, and he said she just sprained it and needed some PT. Just like any profession, doctors can be terrible and since this is your health, you should get someone who is good and who you like. Good luck!

Are you really saying that OP's doctor is "bad" because of one completely innocuous (though admittedly awkward) statement? If he had misdiagnosed leukemia, you'd be right. If he said something blatantly racist or offensive, fine. But he says one ambiguous sentence and your advice is to fire him? Unbelievable.

Imo OP's doctor said and did nothing wrong. To me it sounds like the doctor wants to make sure OP is really fine through some tests, after finding out OP hasn't got leukemia. What he said might've come out a bit wrong but I'd say it's a great thing that he still wants to do some tests to check on other diseases.

How was OP's doctor not respectable? His wording was a bit blunt, but he said they have to do more tests to find what is wrong. If he said "Haha, it isn't Leukemia, but you still have a deadly blood disease that we have no idea what it is and we won't do any more tests." That is disrespectful.

Well wishes op, at least you dodged one bullet, hopefully you'll be able too dodge the rest

One down a lot to go. Phrasing wasn't perfect but at least you weren't given too much time to think you'd finished tests and such. Thinking it's over and then hearing "just have to rule out 7 other things" as you leave would just suck.
