Today, my eight-year-old brother told his classmates that I have cancer. Nope, just really bad acne. FML

Peeves_fml tells us more.

OP here! My brother legitimately believed that having acne is the same thing as having cancer, but after a good talk with him about the difference between a normal teenage phenomenon and a life-threatening disease, I think he's straightened out his vocabulary terms. Oh, the bliss of being baby-faced and blemish-free! I told him he was lucky that he wouldn't have to worry about any skin problems for several years.

Acne must suck but on the bright side at least you don't have cancer!!

You should tease your brother and tell him he's going to grow pimples just like you.

Ah, that sucks, OP! Hope the acne gets cleaned up

I'm confused, OP. Is your little brother an ass, and doing this to make fun of you, or does he actually think that you have skin cancer? If it's the latter, explain to him that you just have something that almost everyone gets at a certain point in life. There is no need for you to feel ashamed! If your acne is that big of a problem, I recommend getting some non-prescription medicated wash, until you can get your hands on something stronger. If your brother is being horrible, however, tell him that he'll get pimples like you when he grows up, and that he develops more of them the meaner he is. Something along those lines, anyway. Good luck!

I'm thinking he really does think OP has skin cancer, he's only right and usually around that age cancer and acne aren't completely understood. At the age of eight if there's something on your face that pops up and doesn't go away immediately then it's really weird. And from an eight year olds point of view, it might qualify as cancer

#40. you know there are professionals who take care of bad acne, right? I'd look into that.

Just wait til the little jerk starts breaking out, himself :p

You don't know if the brother is being a jerk, he could really think OP has cancer depending on his age.

It says the brother is 8. Did you even read the entire post?

proactive+ is your best bet for acne...

Actually your skin gets addicted to proactive products and becomes immune to it over time. Then when you stop using it, your acne comes back worse than before and it's much harder to get rid of. There are actually many natural remedies that work better and op should do some research on how their diet/hormones contribute to the problem. Sometimes it just takes persistence to get rid of acne.

Even if he used proactive it still might not work. Everybody has different skin types and therefore proactive wouldn't necessarily be right for him.

Forget proactiv, I went and acquired some benzaclin and retin-a. Best thing I ever did for my face. Smooth as a baby's bottom now.

Monocycline it helped me out when i had acne

Proactive solution works. I have acne and I use it. Just be careful to use a white pillow case at night cause it'll bleach it.

I don't know if I really want to be putting something on my face that will bleach my pillow... something about that doesn't sound to safe.
