Today, my family decided to break tradition and wake up at midnight to open presents. I didn't find out until I went downstairs to get a glass of water in the middle of the night, and found wrapping paper and empty boxes everywhere. FML

I'm sorry for you that you only got empty boxes and wrapping paper... I'm glad for you to have family to spend the holidays with... my daughter and I have no family left and no money to put presents under our tree... but we still have a tree and the hope we have for a better future is all we wanted... my daughter is 15 and she deserved more than nothing for Christmas... I just wish I could have thought to give her what you got... she would have been so happy to have empty boxes and scraps of wrapping paper to make something to give to her friends

yeah that isn't what this website is about. I could easily tell you to quit your whining because at least you have your daughter and I guess things aren't so bad if you have Internet and free time to be on FML. I'm guessing you have food and clean water as well. there are people who don't even have that. one person's pain doesn't mean less just because someone else has a worse situation. this site is supposed to be fun if you want to play "my life sucks worse" Then submit your own FML.

Not trying to be rude but if things are so hard that you have nothing for Christmas then why are you online. Last time I checked internet and a computer or smart phone or tablet aren't cheap. And if you're that low on money those things should be the first to go.

Smart phones are old now. Phone companies give those away basically for free all the time if you have a new upgrade. They're not anything more than shitty non smart phones. And if you have a daughter and need to stay in contact with her, you'd need a cellphone plan. Same as if her 15 year old daughter is in school, there are few places in the modern world that you can get by without a computer. While I agree that her poor me comment had no place here, don't shame the poor with your ******* ignorance.
