Wake up

Today, it's my roommate's birthday. His friends were planning on a surprise birthday cake at midnight last night, and one of them told me about it, hoping to split the expense between us, which I was totally cool with. But I fell asleep before midnight and they didn't even bother to wake me up. FML

Well, you knew the plan. It's not your roommate's friend's fault that you didn't stick to it.

That must have been some ******* quiet party! How did you not wake up for a surprise party? Did everyone jump out and whisper "Surprise?" Or is your roommate only friendly with mimes?

Don't worry, the cake is a lie anyways.

You know they only asked you to be polite, they really didn't give a rats ass if you were actually there or not.

So they wanted your money for a share of the cake, your presence wasn't necessary.

Why is it their responsibility to make sure you are awake?

Well, then you should say you shouldn't have to pay for your half of the cake since you didn't get to attend the party.

The cake would be primarily a gift for the roommate. That's like a kid taking back a birthday present from their friend, because they weren't there to watch it being opened and didn't get to play with it.

But isn't kind of shitty of them to not try waking him up so he could sing the song and have a slice with them? He paid to contribute to the celebration!
