Today my dad asked if he could walk me down the aisle at my wedding. I was just too speechless to respond. He asked me on my doorstep, at 2 a.m., which was also our first ever meeting since he abandoned my mom when she was 5 months pregnant with me, and just disappeared for 28 years. FML

This is a serious question I have, by aisle does he mean a church aisle? Or am I missing something? I know its legal now but I did not bother looking into it so I thought it was just a paper.

What do marriage laws have to do with why his douchebag father left? Besides "gay marriage" is legal in all 50 states. Put that in quotes because it is literately just marriage.
